Forming Community in Between
Supporting a Growing Collaborative of Community Partners
A mutual learning community in that place between communities
Our Story
Between the Ridges describes the Yakima Valley in Central Washington, on the edge of the eastern slopes of the Cascades, with the series of ridges that divide it, and the Yakima River that runs through it, the traditional lands of the Yakama Nation, home to a diversity of communities who share this landscape.
Between the Ridges describes the many borders and barriers that separate us, and our overarching work of forming relationships and creating community across those boundaries.
Between the Ridges is a non-profit organization that seeks to be a mutual learning community in that place between communities where we can truly listen to one another, face the reality of our shared history, and seek new visions of reconciliation.
We won’t save places we don’t love.
We can’t love places we don’t know.
And we don’t know places we haven’t learned.
